When should my puppy come for their first groom?
We recommend bringing your puppy two weeks after their last set of vaccinations.
The sights and sounds of a puppy's first visit to the groomers can be scary for them. It’s best to have your puppy groomed as soon as possible so they can learn to love the grooming experience.
What can I expect for my puppy's first groom?
What can be accomplished will vary based on your puppy's stress level. Our priority is safety as well as a positive, productive experience.
Our goal for an initial groom includes:
- Nail trimming
- Ear cleaning
- Full bath and blowout with natural botanical shampoos
- Tearless blueberry facial
- Sanitary trim
- Trimming of paw pads
- Rounding of foot
- Trimming of visor and eye corners
We typically recommend against a full haircut. If your puppy is calm and we have the time, it may be possible. Ask your groomer!
How long will it take to groom my dog?
It depends on your dog's breed, size, temperament, coat type/condition, and service requested.
If time is a concern, let us know and we can recommend an appropriate service.
Take a look at our
pricing and services page for the most detailed information.
Basically, all services are provided at a base rate of $60-$70 per hour.
Pricing can change based on your dog's breed, size, hair length/condition, skin condition, temperament, age, and history.
We will give an approximate quote at your pre-service consultation. Feel free to
call or email us for a more precise quote.
Will my dog be put in a crate?
We do not use crates in our spa.
On slow days the pups are usually free to roam about the grooming area. On busier days, dogs are kept individually in veterinarian-grade kennel suites with soothing music and essential oil therapy provided.
We do not use drying cages.
All dogs are dried by hand by our stylists. While this increases service time, we are unwilling to compromise the safety and well-being of our canine clients.
Can I stay and watch my dog get groomed?
No. Your dog loves you very much. They will do their best to get to you while being groomed, which is unsafe and stressful for them.
If you'd like a tour of our spa, we're happy to show you around. Also, feel free to call during your dog's appointment for an update on how they're doing.
How should I prepare my dog for their appointment?
We ask that you give your dog a chance to relieve themselves before coming into the spa. If your dog is particularly anxious, they might do better on an empty stomach.
Feel free to bring any toys, treats, and/or blankets for your dog's comfort.
If you prefer a particular haircut, bring a photo that your groomer can use as reference.
How often should my dog be groomed?
An appointment every six to eight weeks is recommended. Your groomer can offer more specific advice based on your dog.
How often should my dog's nails be trimmed?
Do I need an appointment?
Nails should be trimmed once a month.
You do not need an appointment. We recommend you call in advance to reduce your wait time.
Should I bring in my elderly dog?
All dogs benefit from regular grooming.
Our staff has been trained on the individual considerations for handling aged, deaf, blind, arthritic, and diabetic dogs.
We also offer specialized treatment like our mobility mud bath which reduces joint inflammation.
As always if you're unsure, consult your veterinarian.
My dog can be aggressive when getting groomed, can still I bring them to the spa?
We understand that some dogs have had bad experiences or do not want to be groomed.
We prioritize facilitating a calm experience. Our groomers are trained to collaborate with you on a plan to rehabilitate your dog's trust.
Our staff will inform you of any serious issues that arise during an appointment.
Where can I express a complaint?
Please
contact us within two business days so we can resolve any dissatisfaction with our service. Don't hesitate to let us know how we can improve.
What forms of payment do you accept?
